Civil War Living History and Battle Skirmishes 1445 Harrison Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180, Located on the Grounds of McRaven, This semi-annual event brings history to life. See how both Confederate and Union soldiers lived and fought during the Siege of Vicksburg in 1863. Demonstrations of period clothing, cooking, music, and fighting will make this an educational event at this home which was used as a Confederate Headquarter and a field hospital., 601-636-1663

Gold in the Hills 101 Iowa (P.O. Box 821472), Vicksburg, MS 39180, Parkside Playhouse, Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running melodrama in the world, this family-oriented play has been pleasing locals and tourists alike since 1936. This old-time melodrama offers a very entertaining evening of can-can girls, singing, and throwing peanuts at the villain. Friday & Saturday @ 7:30 p.m., mid-March through mid-April/July.
