Built in the 1800s, this theatre was originally known as the Playhouse Theatre, and featured vaudeville-type performances, including comedians, singers and other stage acts. Converted to a cinema, the theater closed on Nov. 6, 1966. After being used by several different businesses, for 37 years, the old Roxy. Rebuilt by volunteers and members of the Roxy Theatre Management Committee, the theatre features a vintage-looking theatre marquee featuring neon lighting, and old style fabrics and curtains inside the building. Current Hollywood releases, classic films, children's films, other special programming will be shown at the Roxy.

Victorian Splendor Light Festival 217-774-2221

Experience the magic of the Holiday Season during this annual festival held from Thansgiving to New Years Day. It features 400 larger-than-life animated light displays, including special favorites such as the Tail-Waggin-Dragon, Santa’s Village, Victorian Village, and Swans on the Lake. To help with the holiday atmosphere the local radio station broadcasts Christmas music each evening. There are also a variety of other activities offered, such as a drive-through Live Nativity, Bell Choir, Horse-drawn Carriage Rides, the Living Christmas Tree, and more. more
